Recent Changes in the Estonian Competition Law Regime

Tanel Kalaus, Kaisa Kuusk

The most recent amendments in the Estonian Competition Act that took effect on 15 July 2013 make a further step towards harmonising European Union and domestic competition law-related regulations. More importantly, the amendments provide the Competition Authority with new powers that enable the Authority to interfere fast and decisively when the damage to the competition is evident and grave. At the same time, the stakeholders are also likely to benefit from the recent changes as the Authority and the potential offender are now allowed to reach a compromise when the offender accepts certain commitments.
